The Shriners Hospital network consists of 18 orthopaedic hospitals, 3 hospitals dedicated to the treatment of severe burns and 1 offering orthopaedic, burn and spinal cord injury care. Any child under 18 years of age, who in the opinion of the hospital's Chief of Staff can be helped by Shriners Hospitals is eligible for admission.

There is absolutely no charge for this care to any parent, guardian or to any third party and is provided without regard to race, religion or national origin. No federal, state or local government contributions are requested or accepted. All the hospitals are supported by the contributions of Shriners and non-shriners and proceeds from the Shriners Hospitals endowment fund.

During their existence Shriners Hospitals have helped or cured over 575,000 children. There are currently over 200 children from the Hampton Roads area being treated in these hospitals.
